Learn Business Inside and Out

If you desire to contribute to something meaningful, surround yourself with purpose-driven people, and feel you have the drive to run alongside others who strive to be the best, then Avesta and its Business Training Program may be your perfect fit.

The Business Training Program, or BTP, is designed to help you become the best version of yourself professionally, personally and academically. The program aggressively nurtures your desire to learn and understand business, through experience and academic literature, by exposing you to various vantage points within business and the real estate industry.

We are seeking college graduates to partake in a rigorous two-year program where they are given various roles of high responsibility. We target humble, energetic, purpose-driven, team-oriented individuals who have a burning desire to serve. But don't just take it from us - see what our BTP Associates have to say.

The Rotations

Over the span of two years, the BTP Associate will have completed 5-7 operational rotations to deepen their understanding of business and how the various facets integrate, particularly how it relates to real estate, which in turn empowers them as more effective decision makers. These rotations allow participants to gain broad exposure to the operational and managerial side of both real estate and business in general.

The possible rotations are:

  • Leasing Consultant (sales)
  • Assistant Manager
  • Community Manager
  • Procurement
  • Accounting
  • Admin
  • Deal Analyst
  • Construction Manager
  • Project Assistant

The combination of these rotations allows the BTP Associate to gain a firm comprehension of how things interact and integrate in business tailored to the multi-family real estate industry.

The Academics

The best way to learn is to teach. There is an academic track in addition to the multiple operational rotations. BTP Associates deliver monthly presentations and/or participate in small group discussions to share with each other their insights and perspectives gained from each particular assignment. The curriculum consists of books on real estate, leadership, management, personal development, and business in general.

Apply to Business Training Program

The Business Training Program is a great experience. It has been a full-speed train of traveling, challenges, and learning. Coming in, as a recent college graduate, I had little understanding of what Property Management/Real Estate involves. Now, I just love it! Advice for anybody coming in: be open minded, embrace the challenge, and experience the learning environment the most.

Go Gatas!

My "Avesta BTP Story" is an experience that transcends the physical realm of human interaction and the spiritual understanding of community. Purpose is what drives my experience with Avesta.

I thoroughly enjoy interacting with my teammates, both in the field and at Support. I genuinely feel at home every time I enter a new community; likewise, my visits to the Support office remind me of family visits. Warm greetings, plenty of snacks, and an ample amount of beverages. The Avesta culture applies to all teammates, regardless of role or location. I fell in love with the attitude and virtues that Avesta possesses, and the fiery flames of my passion are continually reignited through the manifestation of those virtues in every person and atmosphere I encounter. Pertaining to the Business Training Program, I immensely enjoy the focus on personal development. The main lesson I have learned thus far regards the distinction between person and businessperson - the latter cannot thrive until the former possesses integrity, work ethic, and proper mentality.

That's C-L-E-M-S-O-N not CLEMPSON as many tend to pronounce it haha

I started with Avesta in August 2013. My favorite part of working at Avesta is the people. Warren Buffett reiterates in Snowball the importance of working for people you admire and I am fortunate to be able to make that claim. I also love working directly with teammates that I consider friends. Working with people you consider friends makes working so enjoyable and I feel this is a unique aspect of my job.

Specifically related to BTP, I enjoy taking on new challenges and not waking up to do the same thing day in day out. I believe there will be a time in my career where I will want to hone in and perfect one specific skillset. But for now, I really enjoy being thrown into the fire and taking on new challenges that I haven't faced before. I've learned a lot about myself from being thrown into adverse situations and I look forward to continue facing more challenges after BTP. I'm also passionate about real estate and BTP served as an opportunity to get a comprehensive view of the management aspect of our industry.

GO NOLES!

After graduating, I pursued a career in Insurance and Sales Management. After some time, I knew it was not where I could or wanted to apply my strengths. Avesta's Business Training Program is a perfect solution, because it immerses you in all different aspects of the business, not to mention the upward mobility and personal/professional growth associated with the program.

I actually discovered Avesta when I was helping complete the company's supplemental insurance. I could feel Avesta's positive environment and team culture simply by being present in the office, and it always stood out to me.  When it came time to find a new career path, I had always kept it in the back of my mind. Now that I'm a part of the BTP, I can honestly say they have held true to the culture I remembered.  All of the teammates I have worked with in the field have been so enthusiastic and supportive, and to me the team environment is everything.

I graduated and almost immediately moved to Florida to begin working with Avesta. What I enjoy most about the BTP is working alongside young, passionate people from very diverse backgrounds. The culture of Avesta and the program almost make it feel more like a fraternity or a family than a company. I also find the multifamily real estate industry very intriguing and the program gives me the opportunity to see a lot of 'ins and outs' from both an owner and operator's perspective.
