Learn Business Inside and Out

If you desire to contribute to something meaningful, surround yourself with purpose-driven people, and feel you have the drive to run alongside others who strive to be the best, then Avesta and its Business Training Program may be your perfect fit.

The Business Training Program, or BTP, is designed to help you become the best version of yourself professionally, personally and academically. The program aggressively nurtures your desire to learn and understand business, through experience and academic literature, by exposing you to various vantage points within business and the real estate industry.

We are seeking college graduates to partake in a rigorous two-year program where they are given various roles of high responsibility. We target humble, energetic, purpose-driven, team-oriented individuals who have a burning desire to serve. But don’t just take it from us – see what our BTP Associates have to say.

The Rotations

Over the span of two years, the BTP Associate will have completed 4-6 operational rotations to deepen their understanding of business and how the various facets integrate, particularly how it relates to real estate, which in turn empowers them as more effective decision makers. These rotations allow participants to gain broad exposure to the operational and managerial side of both real estate and business in general.

The possible rotations are:

  • Leasing Consultant (sales)
  • Assistant Manager
  • Community Manager
  • Procurement
  • Accounting
  • Asset Management
  • Deal Analyst
  • Construction Manager
  • Project Associate

The combination of these rotations allows the BTP Associate to gain a firm comprehension of how things interact and integrate in business tailored to the multi-family real estate industry.

The Academics

The best way to learn is to teach. There is an academic track in addition to the multiple operational rotations. BTP Associates deliver monthly presentations and/or participate in small group discussions to share with each other their insights and perspectives gained from each particular assignment. The curriculum consists of books on real estate, leadership, management, personal development, and business in general, such as:

– Leaders Eat Last by: Simon Sinek –
– Good to Great by: Jim Collins –
– 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by: Steven Covey –
– Sam Walton: Made in America by: Sam Walton –
and more…

What are associates saying about the Avesta Business Training Program?

I decided to join Avesta because I wanted to get in with a young company before they hit major mainstream success. We always find out about the Amazons and Facebooks after they are big. The BTP allowed me to figure out where I want to be by trying a lot of different things and forcing me to be disciplined enough to read about business leaders.

Some of my most memorable experiences at Avesta have been the BTP discussion. I really enjoy talking with peers and having a conversation about business leaders and what we can learn from them.

The BTP is one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had in life. It really helps you grow and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I chose Avesta for the culture; plain and simple. The people I work with are great and makes all the difference. We're a passionate group that works to serve our residents! I chose the BTP specifically for the learning opportunities it provides. I have really come to love the extracurricular part of the program that involves business/personal development readings and projects over the span of two years. These provide you with a lot of growth opportunities, it allows you to connect with other members and executives of the company. It's great to feel more comfortable around both your peers and executives of the company. This has given me an in depth look as to how everything works and has helped me to grow as a business professional at quick pace.

I saw Avesta as a young, energetic, team oriented company where I could develop both personally and professionally. It was evident throughout the interview process that this was a group of people focused on their mission and being a part of something bigger than themselves. This was something I wanted to be a part of! As far as the BTP,, I saw this as a great educational opportunity that would allow me to learn the industry from the ground up. I liked the rotational aspect of the program and the challenge of adjusting to a new role every 3 to 4 months.

I have traveled to every market and had the opportunity to develop relationships with teammates throughout our company. I have had a great experience thus far at Avesta and I am looking forward to the future!

I decided to join Avesta and the BTP the moment I first met the teammates. It was at a Job Fair that I was impressed by how passionate this company was about serving others. Avesta is more than a job, it is more like a lifestyle.

I have so many stories to tell about Avesta. But if I had to pick one, I would say the best story was when I was moving to a different community. The residents brought me letters, came by to say goodbye, a resident even cooked a meal for the office and had lunch with us. That shows how much they appreciate the work we do and I felt like I truly made a difference during my time at the community.

Avesta is truly a great company to grow and learn. Everyone is willing to teach others and we are all willing to learn. It is not the typical Property Management Company.

I chose Avesta because I wanted the opportunity to travel to different areas while strengthening my customer service skills. I was born and raised in Alabama. It was a great place to start off but I've always wanted to move away and start new adventures. The BTP was the perfect vehicle for this idea, as I've gotten to experience many cities including Tampa, Bradenton, San Antonio, Jacksonville, and my personal favorite MIAMI!

One of my best memories with Avesta was in Austin, TX, a group of BTPers spent New Years there. Austin is a vibrant city with thriving culture and a huge music scene. We got to experience all this while working there. We worked really hard so it was cool to take time off to ring in the New Year with teammates. The bond we formed there was solid.

I believe in creating more community and a lifestyle for others so they can live abundantly. I choose Avesta because of it's culture of encouragement, drive, and love for residents, teammates, neighbors, and everyone we come in contact with.

I joined the BTP because of the opportunity to work and continue education at the same time. Education never ends, and to be able to gain experience in the industry while gaining business and real estate knowledge was one I could not pass up.

Being a part of Avesta has been a dream come true. The learning and opportunities I have been provided has been so much more than I ever expected. People wonder why I am still reading textbooks, writing essays, and giving presentations especially at 6AM every few weeks, but I would not have it any other way!

What initially drew me to the BTP was the opportunity to gain exposure to the real-estate business in a short period of time. Since starting I have completed five rotations, each with its own unique challenges, and worked in communities across Florida and Texas. Aside from the fast paced nature of the company, my favorite part about working here is the daily interactions I have with teammates and residents. It is great to be in an atmosphere of purpose-driven and dedicated individuals who are constantly working together to reach our mission/vision! What I love specifically about the Business Training Program is the growth I have seen in myself and fellow teammates. The program not only focuses on developing better leaders and businesspersons but on the personal growth of each teammate.

I chose Avesta and the BTP because I wanted to grow as an individual and get out of my comfort zone. The BTP encourages a growth mindset and gives me the opportunity to try new things, meet new people, and see new places. One of my favorite Avesta moments was during the 2016 Christmas party; All of the BTP Associates, myself included, surprised everyone in the company and their families by singing Christmas carols as they entered the party. Their reaction was unforgettable.

As the first stop in my life after graduation, it couldn't have gotten much better than this. I am proud to say I have become a stronger, more confident individual during my time as a BTP Associate.
